Fehervary Sidelined Against Vegas; Capitals Down A Top D-Man
John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Capitals will be without Martin Fehervary when they host the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, head coach Spencer Carbery said Monday.

It’s the second-straight game that the 24-year-old defenseman will miss after suffering a lower body injury Friday against New Jersey.

Carbery added that Fehervary could return for Saturday’s game against Columbus, but that his status is still very much up in the air.

Fehervary has anchored the left side of the Capitals’ top defensive pairing, across from John Carlson, since the team’s fifth game. He was replaced in Saturday’s game by Alex Alexeyev.

The Capitals are currently stretched a bit thin defensively, as both Trevor van Riemsdyk and Joel Edmundson join Fehervary on injured reserve. With Alexeyev, Hardy Haman Aktell and Lucas Johansen becoming fixtures of the team’s blue line of late, the Capitals also promoted Hershey Bears captain Dylan McIlrath to provide additional depth.
