Flyers’ John LeClair Intervening In Torey Krug Negotiations?
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said on his 32 Thoughts podcast on Monday that he thinks the Philadelphia Flyers are working to salvage the Kevin Hayes trade with the Blues.

The snag in the trade reportedly is getting Blues defenseman Torey Krug to waive his no-trade clause.

“John LeClair’s agent when he played was Lewis Gross who is Krug’s agent, so I think they’ve tried it that way,” Friedman said on the podcast.

Friedman also believes Flyers veteran forward Cam Atkinson might be playing a part in the Krug negotiations.

“The one guy I suspect because he’s a really respected and popular guy would be Cam Atkinson,” Friedman said.

“I don’t know that for sure, but I would believe that Atkinson would be a guy to be dispatched to see if they could make this work.”

Two More Mock Drafts

Finally, the NHL Draft is one day away. Leading up to the draft, we have published two mock drafts a day for the Philadelphia Flyers’ selections at No. 7 and 22.

Today’s selections were made FloHockey and MyNHLDraft.com. This particular draft, given the Flyers’ rebuilding situation, is more anticipated than most.

The Philadelphia Flyers have two first-round picks, 7 and 22, and apparently are working to acquire more in the trade market.

7. Flyers: Matvei Michkov, RW, Sochi, KHL

After Connor Bedard, Michkov might be the second-most talented player in the draft. I believe the Flyers are interested in drafting Michkov and will try to trade up to get him.

22. Flyers: David Edstrom, C, Frolunda, SHL

He is a big center who has improved throughout this past season. His strengths are on defense with his back-checking and battling along the boards.

7. Flyers: David Reinbacher, D, Kloten, SNL

Reinbacher probably is the best defensive player in the draft. He is a likely top-10 pick and probably the first defenseman off the board.

22. Flyers: Danill But, LW, Yaroslavl (KHL)

National Hockey Now Editor-in-Chief Dan Kingerski picked But at 32 for the Golden Knights. “A 6-foot-5 scorer, But is already playing well in the KHL. He owns a powerful shot and has good offensive instincts. He’s a project, but he has a high upside,” Kingerski wrote.
