Gotta see it: O’Connor Stands Up For Cogliano

The first period for the Colorado Avalanche was a pretty big dud, but there was one bright spot – Logan O’Connor letting Jordan Eberle know that no one has forgotten about the hit he threw on Andrew Cogliano this past April.

Cogliano, playing just his second game of the season, certainly wasn’t going to be the guy fighting. He has just returned from the fractured neck Eberle gave him in game six.

On just the second shift of the game, O’Connor got on the ice and challenged Eberle to a fight, and he got his wish.

Eberle is not a dirty player, but it was not a good hit. It was penalized during the game, but he did not face any supplemental discipline, which didn’t make any sense. Jared Bednar, who doesn’t criticize the league much, made it known that Eberle should have been suspended for the hit.

Either way, good for O’Connor. He got some good rights in during the fight, and I’d give him the win. This is how the players police themselves, and Eberle answered the bell. If only the Avalanche had responded with a little better period…
