Jujhar Khaira Returns to Blackhawks Practice

The Chicago Blackhawks received some excellent news on Tuesday. Forward Jujhar Khaira returned to the team’s practice just two weeks after being stretchered off the ice in a game against the Rangers.

In the aftermath of the hit that knocked him out, Khaira was transported to the hospital. The Blackhawks placed him in concussion protocol shortly after, causing him to miss the last six games.

His progress is quite remarkable considering the severity of the hit that hospitalized him. With the NHL on pause through the Holiday Break, Khaira will have even more time to work his way back to game-ready status. Due to multiple COVID-related postponements, the Blackhawks don’t play again until Dec. 28 when they host the Blue Jackets.

On the season, Jujhar Khaira has two goals while averaging 13:54 of ice time across 18 games. With Brett Connolly suspended for four games, the Blackhawks could use Khaira back in the forward group when they return to game action.
