Kraken's Tanev suffers season-ending ACL injury
Seattle Kraken left wing Brandon Tanev Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

In the early going for the Seattle Kraken, forward Brandon Tanev has quickly established himself as a fan favorite. This has been due to his aggressive style of play, hot offensive start to the season (nine goals in 30 games) and, of course, being photogenic.

Tanev’s promising season came to an abrupt halt on Monday when the Kraken announced that the 29-year-old forward sustained as season-ending knee injury on Dec. 18 against the Edmonton Oilers. The injury occurred when he went into the boards awkwardly after receiving a hit from defenseman William Lagesson.

The Kraken’s announcement came shortly after Tanev exited the ice and was declared unfit for action Monday. He had yet to miss any game action as each of Seattle’s last four games have been postponed due to COVID.

The Kraken added that additional information on Tanev’s surgery and recovery time will be announced at a later date.
