Logan Thompson Partakes in 'Tendy Tandem' All-Star Competition

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson got his first taste of NHL All-Star Weekend on Friday night when he competed in the "Tendy Tandem" skills competition.

The contest comprised of four teams of goalie pairings. One goalie attempted to find the net from the opposite end of the ice. Hitting the net was worth two points, while sending the puck through a hole was awarded three points.

The other goaltender was tasked with saving shots from three, two or one skaters, depending on however many points the shooting goalie attained.

Thompson was paired with fellow Pacific Division goalie Stuart Skinner of the Edmonton Oilers.

"Me and Stu [Skinner] were talking all night," Thompson told the media afterwards. "He was a guy that I basically grew up playing against since we were kids. So it's cool. Me and him were saying how special it was that we're here together."

The two came in second place with 11 points, two shy of Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros and Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.

Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark and Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Nashville Predators place third with nine points, while New York Ranger Igor Shesterkin and Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders placed fourth with six points.

This was Thompson's first event this All-Star Weekend before he competed in the first semi-final game on Saturday.

"It was special," Thompson said. "Like I said, I never really thought this was a real possibility, so just enjoying every minute of it."

Thompson has a record of 19-13-3 so far in his rookie campaign. He's made a total of 976 saves with a save percentage of .913.

Thompson and the Golden Knights will continue their 2022-23 season when they head to Nashville to face the Predators for the second time this season on Tuesday.

It will be the second-to-last game of the club's six-game road stretch.
