NHL bets: Three goal scorer props for Thursday's slate

I know it's March Madness, and I'm right there with ya taking in the action today. Still, it couldn't hurt to have a few NHL goal scorer props in the pocket either, could it? I think not, and this trio caught the eye this morning.

I've placed .5u on each of these bets.

Jake Guentzel goal (+160 ESPN)

Flyers vs. Hurricanes, 7 p.m. ET

I hopped on the Jake Guentzel train two games ago and he has not disappointed, netting a goal in both games. Now he returns home, where he still has not scored as a member of the Hurricanes, and draws a Flyers team that has allowed 24 goals in their past five games.

This is just one of those cases where I got on the ride at the right time, so I'll just sit here happily until it runs off the tracks and crashes. I see no reason that needs to start tonight, Carolina is playing some terrific hockey right now, with their trade deadline pieces fitting in nicely.

Time for Guentzel to score in front of the Canes faithful for the first time as one of their own. He has seven goals in his past 10 games against Philly.

Conor Garland goal (+290 FanDuel)

Canadiens vs. Canucks, 10 p.m. ET

Garland notched a goal last game and I like a streak to build against a Montreal defense allowing 4.0 goals per game on the road over the past month.

Garland is skating on Vancouver's top line and leading the team in 5v5 shots, expected goals and high-danger chances across their past five home games (a common theme here when I'm betting goals, as you may have caught on to by now).

I definitely like to see that Garland is involved on offense and sending plenty of quality looks to net, and considering he's scored in two straight meetings against Montreal, he may as well do it again.

Max Jones goal (+450 FanDuel)

Blackhawks vs. Ducks, 10 p.m. ET

Who? Hey I get it, but Max Jones is checking off the exact boxes I want to see when looking for a longer odds play in the goal prop market.

First, he's a part of what could be a very sloppy Anaheim-Chicago game, one I want to attack thanks to the lack of defense present.

Jones is second on the Ducks in 5v5 shots over their past five at home, but the true kicker is that he tops the team in that span in expected goals and high-danger chances by a pretty sizable margin, with no goals to show for it. Love that.

Chicago is very vulnerable to winger success, and Jones scored last time he saw the Blackhawks. I'll dabble at this price.
