NHL Monday bets: Goal-scorer parlay

For the second night in a row, every player we circled for this parlay recorded a point. Unfortunately, just one scored a goal.

Here's to tonight being the night. There are some fantastic scoring options in the NHL to start the week.

I've got three legs to net one this evening. Parlay odds at time of publish are +2107 on FanDuel.

Mitch Marner

The Toronto-Columbus game has the potential to be the highest-scoring game of the night, and the over/under set at seven suggests the same.

While both teams are due for a regression in scoring and goals allowed, the edge remains on the Toronto side, so that's where our attention goes.

Some numbers: The Maple Leafs are averaging the second-most goals per game on the road in their last 10 at 4.7, a number that goes up to 5.2 in their past five.

Columbus is allowing the fifth-most goals per game at home (3.9) in its last 10 and getting pummeled by shots lately, averaging nearly 40 shots allowed at home in the same span.

Toronto should be operating at a volume we covet when targeting goal-scorers, so now it comes to making the right selection.

I like Mitch Marner, who comes into this one on a six-game point streak. During this stretch, he's had just one game with a goal, pouring in four total goals against Detroit.

On the road, Marner has a goal in seven of his last 12, and he feels due for a goal based on his involvement in the Toronto offense.

Marner is on the top line and the top power-play unit and should get his chances in a high-scoring affair tonight.

Sam Reinhart

I've seen Sam Reinhart as a popular pick on Twitter today, so let's acknowledge a big reason why: the revenge angle. Reinhart spent seven seasons in Buffalo prior to being traded to Florida. It's Buffalo he gets tonight, a return to the Sabres arena for the first time.

These games tend to elicit a scoring punch from the traded player, and Reinhart did net one against the Sabres when they met in Florida earlier this year.

While that's noteworthy, there's also a lot of statistics to back up the Panthers and Reinhart tonight.

For starters, the Florida offense is as good as it gets. The Panthers have maintained an elite scoring clip on the road, averaging 4.0 goals per game in their last 10 and 4.8 in their past five, both top-three marks.

Buffalo has given up 3.9 goals per game to opponents at home in its past 10 and have had its struggles on the penalty kill.

Reinhart comes alive on the road, with 10 points in his past six away tilts, with five goals in that span.

He spends a considerable amount of time on the power play, a noted layer to like from Florida.

There are plenty of options from Florida tonight, but I'm ultimately rolling with the former Sabre netting another goal against his former team.

Matthew Tkachuk

The Battle of Alberta brings us our final leg for tonight's parlay, and my attention goes to the loaded Calgary Flames.

The Flames are averaging the second-most goals per game at home in their past ten and the most in their last five.

Mikko Koskinen is in net for the Oilers tonight, allowing 3.05 goals per game this season. On an expected goals allowed per game basis in its past 10 games, Edmonton tops the night's participants at 3.22 per game.

Like Florida, there is a lot of quality options on Calgary, so why Tkachuk?

The key differentiator for me here is the power play, as it tends to be. Edmonton has been brutal on the penalty kill this season, allowing the most goals per game on the PK in its past 25 games.

Calgary tends to get plenty of pucks on net on the power play, ranking first in Corsi For* on the 5-on-4 PP in the last 25 games. (*Corsi For adds in shots on goal, blocked shots and missed shots.)

It's Tkachuk who has been most involved on the Flames' top power-play line, leading the team in shots (21) and points (8) in the last 25 games.

Tkachuk has a goal in four of his last six home games and scored against Edmonton when these teams last met in January.

Best goal odds: +172 FD

Good luck tonight! As a reminder, these parlay odds are better on FanDuel, at +2107.
