With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

Carolina Hurricanes vs St Louis Blues

Head-to-Head: Hurricanes 0-1 Blues

TV: NHL Network; Bally Sports South; Bally Sports Midwest

Our opening and featured NHL predictions has the Carolina Hurricanes looking to keep their Metropolitan Division hopes alive. Frederik Andersen is the expected starter for Carolina, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Canes are 7-2-1 and have won three games in a row to put pressure on the New York Rangers. New acquisition Jake Guentzel has scored 28 goals with 46 assists for the Hurricanes. Sebastian Aho has eight goals and four assists over the last 10 games.

The St Louis Blues are expected to go with Jordan Binnington in between the pipes to keep its Stanley Cup Playoff hopes alive. The Blues are three points off the last post-season spot with three games left. St Louis is 6-2-2 in the last 10 games and have two straight victories. Jordan Kyrou has 29 goals and 36 assists for the Blues. Brandon Saad has six goals and three assists over the past 10 games.

The Blues are trying to hang on, but Andersen and the Hurricanes have been just a bit better as of late.

Prediction: Hurricanes win 3-2.

Nashville Predators vs Chicago Blackhawks

Head-to-Head: Predators 3-0 Blackhawks

TV: NBC Sports Chicago +2; Bally Sports South; ESPN+

The Nashville Predators look for the season sweep of the Chicago Blackhawks in their final trip to the United Center this season. Juuse Saros is scheduled to get the start, but Kevin Lankinen might get a look in goal to give Saros some rest. Nashville clinched a post-season spot last time out despite a loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The Predators are 5-4-1 in the last 10 games. Norris Trophy winner Roman Josi has 21 goals and 59 assists for the Predators. Filip Forsberg has seven goals and eight assists over the last 10 games.

Petr Mrazek likely gets the call for the Blackhawks, who are 4-6 in the last 10 games. Chicago has also lost two straight games heading into this matchup against its Central Division rival. Philipp Kurashev has 17 goals and 36 assists for the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard has one goal and five assists over the past 10 games to help his late Calder Trophy push.

Nashville has defied expectations and could lock up the wild card one spot with a win.

Prediction: Predators win 5-2.

Arizona Coyotes vs Edmonton Oilers

Head-to-Head: Coyotes 0-1 Oilers

TV: Sportsnet West; Scripps; ESPN+

Our final game of NHL predictions for the night has the Edmonton Oilers hosting the Arizona Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka is the expected starter for Arizona, which is a respectable 6-4 in the last 10 games. Nick Schmaltz has 22 goals and 38 assists for the Coyotes. Leading scorer Clayton Keller has five goals and eight assists over the past 10 games.

Calvin Pickard is the confirmed starter for the Oilers, who will be in the first of back-to-back games. Edmonton still managed an impressive win the other night without the injured Connor McDavid. The captain’s status is yet to be determined as of press time. Edmonton is 6-3-1 in the last 10 and winners of three straight heading into this one. Leon Draisaitl took charge the other night and has scored 41 goals with 63 assists for the Oilers. Despite the injury, McDavid has five goals and 13 assists over the past 10 games played.

Edmonton still has an outside at a Pacific Division crown, so a win here is needed.

Prediction: Oilers win 5-3.

Prop Bet of the Night

We’ll stay with the last game of NHL predictions for our prop of the evening. We’ll go with Draisaitl having another big night with the over on +1.5 points.
