Nick Schmaltz out with injury for Coyotes vs. Canucks

The Arizona Coyotes will be without one of their stars tonight in their tilt against the Vancouver Canucks.

Suffering an upper-body injury two nights ago, Nick Schmaltz will not lace up the skates and hit the ice tonight in British Columbia.

He was originally labeled as a game-time decision and out day-to-day, but he is not on the ice for warmups.

In the second period against the Calgary Flames, the Coyotes were down to 10 forwards and seven defensemen after Schmaltz headed to the locker room and did not return.

Prior to this situation, he recorded six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in the last eight games.

Schmaltz had 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 42 games this year so far. He has yet to play a full-82 game season as he has encountered multiple injuries during his eight-year career.

Puck-drop between the Coyotes and Canucks begins tonight at 8 p.m. MST inside Rogers Arena.
