Last season with the OHL's Sudbury Wolves, Byfield had 32 goals and 82 points in 45 games.
The Kings enter Wednesday with an 18-22-6 record and 10 games remaining on the season. They're seventh in the West Division and almost certainly will miss the playoffs for the third straight season.
