Panthers sign former first-round pick Colin White to one-year deal

The Florida Panthers have signed forward Colin White to a one-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.

According to TSN’s Bruce Garrioch, White’s new deal carries a $1.2 million cap hit. Last week, the Ottawa Senators bought out the final three years of White’s previous contract, which was worth $4.75 million per season.

White, 25, scored three goals and 10 points in 24 games with the Senators in 2021–22. Ottawa originally selected White in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

In 224 regular-season games with the Senators, White scored 36 goals and 98 points. He signed his big six-year deal with Ottawa after scoring 14 goals and 41 points in 71 games with the team in 2018–19.

White heads to Florida on the same day that Claude Giroux left the Panthers to sign a three-year deal with the Senators. Florida has also signed Marc Staal, Eric Staal and Nick Cousins on free agency day.
