Report: Kane Deal with Rangers Ready, Awaiting Kane's Approval

Per reports, it appears a trade between the Blackhawks and Rangers is in place and all that's needed now is a waive of Kane's no-movement clause.

The moment that many Chicago Blackhawks fans have been dreading may finally be upon us. According to reports, a trade sending Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers is effectively in place. All that is required now is a blessing from Kane for the move. 

The first report on Saturday came from Elliotte Friedman, indicating that the Hawks and Rangers are finalizing the details of a deal, including a third party to take on some of Kane's cap hit, in the last 24 hours. In addition to that report, Barstool's Blackhawks writer, Chief, indicates that Kane is the only thing holding up a trade. Once he signs off, the deal should happen quickly. 

Over the last few days, there are indications that forwards Vitali Kravtsov and Jake Leschyshyn have been held out of practice for "roster management" purposes, meaning that the two could be a part of a deal. However, per reports on Saturday afternoon, Leschyshyn will likely be placed on waivers, meaning that he might not be a part of a trade after all, if he is claimed. However, he has yet to record a point this season after a strong showing in the AHL last year, and a decent showing in the NHL. 

Ideally, the Blackhawks will also receive some type of draft compensation in a trade for Kane. It likely won't be a lot, as he has full control of his trade destination, avoiding the ability to create a bidding war. This is a situation where the Rangers offer their best, and the Blackhawks have to either agree or move on. 

Kane has also been resting leading up to a potential trade, although indicated as soreness by the team. However, the Blackhawks play in San Jose on Saturday night, and a recent report indicates he will not play. His agent, Pat Brisson, indicated they do not believe it is appropriate for him to play given the situation at hand. 

Fans certainly don't want him to leave. The #KeepKane movement has been all over Twitter, but it appears that won't be enough to keep No. 88 in red, white, and black. 

At this point, it is a waiting game. Nonetheless, it appears Patrick Kane will be a New York Ranger sooner than later, assuming he waives his NMC. For now, the waiting game continues for the league, fans, and the teams alike.
