Stars' Max Domi fined $5,000 for slashing Golden Knights' Mark Stone

The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety has fined Dallas Stars forward Max Domi $5,000, the maximum allowable allowed under the collective bargaining agreement, for slashing Vegas Golden Knights’ captain Mark Stone during Game 3 of the Western Conference Final.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred during the third period at the 18:09 mark when Domi deliberately hacked Mark Stone. He was given a 10-minute misconduct. This was during the same period that Domi and Golden Knights defensemen Nicolas Hague got into it after Domi hit Hague hard into the boards, causing a scrum.

This is Domi’s third $5,000 fine of his career thus far. In 2021 he was fined $5k alongside Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey for an altercation that took place following a puck being shot into the net after a whistle. While with the Columbus Blue Jackets, he received a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. Domi was suspended for the remainder of the 2018-19 NHL preseason while with the Montreal Canadiens after he punched Panthers’ Aaron Ekblad.

The 28-year-old 2013 first-round draft selection was acquired by the Stars at the 2023 trade deadline from the Chicago Blackhawks. During the season, he tallied seven points in 20 games. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has registered 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and 52 penalty minutes in 16 games.
