Vancouver Canucks activate forward Curtis Lazar from injured reserve

Lazar’s injury occurred during the second period of play of the Canucks’ February 15th home matchup against the New York Rangers. Lazar came out for the third period and tried to test out whatever was ailing him, but did not return. Post game, head coach Rick Tocchet said that his initial indication was that Lazar’s injury didn’t seem that serious.

Two weeks later, Lazar is expected to return to action when the Canucks take on the Minnesota Wild at home tonight. Lazar signed a three-year contract worth $3 million with his childhood team this past offseason.

In his first season with the Canucks, the Salmon Arm native has tallied three goals and two assists through 45 games played. Given the injury to JT Miller, there’s a chance that Lazar lines up as the Canucks’ second line centre tonight.
