Watch: Penguins’ Letang Snaps on Krebs, Delivers Stiff Punch
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The temperature rose quickly in Buffalo Friday. Midway through the second period, with the Pittsburgh Penguins leading the Buffalo Sabres 1-0, a few big hits preceded an angry scrum in front of the Buffalo net.

As Sidney Crosby angrily pulled one player out of the pile, defenseman Kris Letang and Buffalo forward Peyton Krebs tangled.

And continue to tussle. Letang threw Krebs to the ice, then delivered a straight right hand to Krebs’s jaw. Refs evened up the calls, and neither side had a power play.

Krebs and Letang were not done with each other. Krebs, whose jaw was obviously not damaged by the shot, continued to challenge Letang in the penalty box.

However, nothing further happened for the remaining six minutes of the second period, except Penguins center Lars Eller converted a turnover into a top-shelf snipe for a 2-0 Penguins lead.
