Wild trade Ryan Donato to Sharks in exchange for draft pick

The San Jose Sharks are expected to be very busy this offseason, and they made the first of many moves on Monday in an attempt to bolster their forward depth.

San Jose announced that they've received Ryan Donato from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2021 third-round draft selection.

Donato was a Hobey Baker Award nominee at Harvard and a United States Olympian before making his debut with the Boston Bruins during the 2017-18 season. The 24-year-old was traded by Boston in the Charlie Coyle trade.

While he is talented, Minnesota stuck Donato on their fourth line, with little room to advance up the ranks. In San Jose, he'll likely see much more ice time. Last season, Donato tallied 14 goals and nine assists in 62 games played.

The Wild and Sharks also are reportedly discussing a deal for goaltender Devan Dubnyk. It was originally believed that Dubnyk was going to be included in the deal with Donato.
