Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly's long absences from the London club are on purpose.

The American is spending more time away from Stamford Bridge and delegating responsibility to others.

Boehly received a great deal of criticism for all the money the club squandered on signings when he first took over from Roman Abramovich.

The co-owner attended last weekend's Premier League win over Brighton, which has not been common this term.

Per The Mail, Boehly had always intended to take a step back after the initial period at Chelsea.

He was the de facto sporting director for much of last season, but has since appointed dual sporting directors to do that job.
