Francesco Totti has been rumored to join the Roma management a few times since leaving, with José Mourinho reportedly a proponent of the hiring, but there’s not much momentum. The legend talked about it and more in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

“I’ve spent 30 years at Roma and always respected everybody, passing on rich wages I could have earned elsewhere without making anybody feel bad about it. I said no to Real Madrid and other teams because I wanted to wear only that jersey, which is part of me.”

Totti looked back at his exit.

“I was sorry for the way my story with Roma ended. The truth is that there’s no more respect in football when you are no longer needed. It must mean something if Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Del Piero, and Roberto Baggio are no longer involved.”

Totti addressed his potential return.

“I’d like it with a precise role and with Mourinho, whom I esteem a lot. It’s too bad that he didn’t coach him when I was playing. But I don’t want to revisit it or beg. Roma know that, if they need me to do serious things, I’d be glad to lend a hand. Otherwise, we’ll stay friends as usual.”

“My dream is to realize another dream now. I had one in the past and fulfilled it. I’m looking for something. I just want to live my life with more tranquility after all the recent issues.”
