Lazio Considering Spurs Legend for Backup Goalie Duties

Despite some back and forth that slowed down the deal, Luis Maximiano is on the verge of leaving Lazio to join Almeria. He’d head back to La Liga after just one season in Italy. He was signed to be the new starter but lost the job to Ivan Provedel due to a silly mistake in his debut.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Biancocelesti will cash in roughly €10M from the sale of the shot-stopper. They paid the same sum to acquire him from Granada. He departs after making just six appearances: three in Conference League and two in Coppa Italia.

Lazio will be in the market for a backup goalie once Maximiano moves to Almeria. They have been linked to Hugo Lloris. However, his wages and ambitions could be an issue. He’d have a richer salary than Provedel, who’s set to remain the top option, Il Messaggero relays.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham would release the Frenchman if asked. However, he’d be a cumbersome presence and, factoring in the costs, he’s not the top candidate. The agency Boutique Transfers, who represents their new winger Gustav Isaksen, offered Frederick Ronnow, who will likely leave Union Berlin. He has a €3/4M price tag.

Moreover, Lazio also are weighing veterans Samir Handanovic and Salvatore Sirigu, who are out of contract, Verona’s Lorenzo Montipò, and Sassuolo’s Andrea Consigli to replace Maximiano.
