Lazio have reportedly reached a full agreement with Mattia Zaccagni over a new contract following overnight talks. Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla broke the news on his website alfredopedulla.com.

The 28-year-old has been part of the Biancoceletsi squad since making an initial loan switch from Hellas Verona in August 2021. The capital side then made the move permanent in the following summer.

The Italian had established himself as a key figure in Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 tactical system, but some doubts were raised over his future following the appointment of Igor Tudor who has instilled a different playing formation. Moreover, Zaccagni’s contract is set to expire in 2025, with Juventus reportedly seeking a cut-price deal in the summer.

Nevertheless, Pedulla reveals how Lazio launched an overnight blitz that ended with a full agreement between the management and the player’s agent Mario Giuffredi. The two parties will reportedly announce a new five-year contract, valid until June 2029.

The winger’s net salary will reportedly exceed 3 million euros, without counting add-ons. He has been awaiting this renewal since last summer when he enjoyed a brilliant campaign, culminating in a second-place finish in Serie A.

This will serve as a timely boost for the Aquile who will lose the services of Felipe Anderson at the end of the season. Palmeiras have officially announced an agreement with the Brazilian winger who will join as a free agent in July once his contract with the Italian club expires.
