It has been announced that Manchester United have found their replacement for Dean Henderson, with the Red Devils set to sign 25-year-old Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
Fabrizio Romano discussed the deal on his YouTube channel saying: “Man United will announce Bayindir from Fenerbahçe as (their) new goalkeeper. The new backup goalkeeper is going to be Altay Bayindir and he’s going to be the backup option for Andre Onana.”
Manchester United were forced into making this move for Bayindir after Dean Henderson left Old Trafford for a fee Romano described as a “£20 million package.”
The deal to bring Bayindir to Manchester has been in the works for a while, and the player has been in the country since last Friday.
The backup spot behind Onana at Old Trafford will be seen as an increasingly crucial position as reports suggest that Onana could be on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations in January. This will see him miss a number of matches.
Former Manchester United midfielder Fred, who now plays his club football for Fenerbahçe, seemingly confirmed Bayindir’s move: “I wished Altay good luck when he left. I think Altay is going to be very happy at Manchester United.”
Alongside the move for Bayindir, the Red Devils look to be set for a busy deadline day. The ongoing search for a left-back seems to be reaching a conclusion, with Tottenham defender Reguilon completing his Old Trafford medical. They are also looking into the possibility of bringing in midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina.
