Monza wingback Carlos Augusto has undergone his medicals ahead of a move to Inter Milan.

This according to Italian broadcaster FCInter1908, who report that the Brazilian will sign his contract with the Nerazzurri this evening.

Inter have moved fast in the past couple days to sign Augusto.

He joins from Monza as a replacement for Robin Gosens, who looks to be right on the verge of joining Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.

The Nerazzurri already have an agreement with the Brianzoli to sign Augusto. The Lombard club’s CEO has confirmed as much.

And now, the deal is getting close to the finish line.

Augusto has been in Milano today, where this afternoon he underwent his medicals. And, FCIN1908 anticipate, he will put pen to paper on his Inter contract this evening.

Then, the only thing that will be left is the official announcement of the deal. Augusto can soon join up with his new Nerazzurri teammates in training.

In a twist of fate, Augusto will be an Inter player for the Serie A opener against his soon-to-be-former club Monza over the weekend.

Carlos Augusto Move To Inter Nearly Over The Line

Augusto was one of the real breakout talents of the Monza team that finished in midtable last season, their first ever campaign in Serie A.

Having been a key figure for the Brianzoli in Serie B, he made the step up to the top flight seamlessly.

Across the campaign, Augusto made six goals and five assists for Monza.

Therefore, it is little surprise to see the Brazilian making the jump to a bigger club.

Augusto will replace a stylistically similar player in the form of Gosens.

The German joined Inter from Atalanta in the January transfer window of 2022. However, he never quite found his best form from his La Dea days in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Therefore, Gosens will try to reignite his form in the Bundesliga.

And Augusto will look to bring his form from Monza to Inter, giving the Nerazzurri the kind of incisive presence on both sides of the ball that is vital from the wingbacks in coach Simone Inzaghi’s system.

Augusto will back up and provide competition for Federico Dimarco down the flank.
