Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has revealed how Anthony Gordon prepared for their most recent game.
The Magies took on Nottingham Forest over the weekend and won a tight game by a 3-2 scoreline.
Gordon took part in the contest despite having an ankle injury that he picked up in their 4-4 draw against Luton Town a week earlier.
Newcastle head coach Howe told reporters: "My words were he had not trained to that point, he then trained Friday morning.
And he trained well and looked fine.
"He did well to come through the game considering he had obviously left the ground last week in a protective boot."
Howe added on the game: "I was really pleased with elements of the first half and to come in at 2-2 was difficult. We switched off a couple of times and got punished.
"The second half was a real test and Forest and the home crowd were up. The second half was based on spirit."
