Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has urged boss Eddie Howe to consider the Europa League.

The Magpies are still in the Champions League group stages and in with a chance to progress with one game to go.

However, Pardew believes that after the team's 1-1 draw against PSG, even finishing third may be a decent outcome for their first Champions League campaign in decades.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the ex-Toon boss told Howe: If I were Eddie Howe, I'd have one eye on that Europa League spot as well. You want to continue the journey for the fans.

The fans, you saw them all in the town yesterday. They loved it. They love following the Toon in Europe.

Champions League? Brilliant. But don't lose that European spot. Beating AC Milan is key to that. Beat them and you have that for sure.

Fingers crossed you carry on in this competition (Champions League)."
