On Tuesday night at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Paris Saint-Germain staged an impressive comeback victory against FC Barcelona. Initially trailing 1-0, the capital club got a boost when Ronald Araújo was sent off after fouling Bradley Barcola, giving PSG a chance to turn the tide in their favor.

When Barcelona found themselves with ten men, the Parisians capitalized on the situation. Luis Enrique and his team scored four unanswered goals, with Ousmane Dembélé haunting his former team with a goal late in the first half.

Vitinha found the back of the net in the 54th minute, evening out the aggregate score to 4-4 as the Ligue 1 team surged ahead with a 2-1 lead in the match. Kylian Mbappé then secured the win with a penalty kick goal in the 61st minute, followed by another goal in the 89th minute, sealing the deal with a final aggregate score of 6-4.

Barcelona’s downfall came with the Araújo red card, and CBS Sports pundit Jamie Carragher called the decision to commit the fall a silly one by the Uruguayan defender.

“I hate seeing defenders do this,” Carragher said. “The reason that a goalkeeper plays football is to help [the defender] when you make a mistake. Let him do his job; stay out of that. [Barcola] still got to beat the goalkeeper. It’s ridiculous. Players are getting involved, getting themselves sent off. And then it gave them a mountain to climb, really.”

PSG has secured its spot in the Champions League semifinals, and it’s set to square off against Borussia Dortmund. Interestingly, the French giants crossed paths with Dortmund in the group stage earlier this season.
