Manchester United meet Everton on November 26, with both sides needing three points to boost their disappointing respective league positions. Read on for Last Word on Football’s predictions for Everton vs Manchester United and the best odds for the match at Goodison Park.

Everton vs Manchester United Predictions and Best Odds as Both Sides Look To Return Focus to Matters on the Pitch

Everton Looking To Continue Recent Run To Move Back up the Table

After losing their opening three games, failing to score and conceding six goals along the way, it looked like another bleak season was in store for the Toffees. However, since a 2-1 home defeat to Luton at the end of September, Sean Dyche’s side have lost just once in the last five league fixtures to separate themselves from the struggling teams at the foot of the table.

Their joy was short-lived as they were deducted ten points after breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules, which resulted in them dropping five places to 19th.

Everton lost their opening four home league games but have picked up four points from the last two, with a 1-1 draw following on from a convincing 3-0 win against Bournemouth. This side has shown character in recent weeks, digging deep to score a late winner from substitute Idrissa Gueye to secure a 3-2 away victory over Crystal Palace last time out.

Manchester United Still Failing to Convince They Are Ready to Compete for Major Honours

Despite expectations of competing domestically and in Europe this campaign, Erik ten Hag’s team are on the verge of an early Champions League exit – and are miles away from competing for the league title. They have lost three of their last five in all competitions and have yet to find the right balance in any area of the pitch, as injuries and a lack of form for key players have derailed their season.

There has been an improvement in Premier League results, with four wins from the last five, with the only outlier being the 3-0 defeat in the Manchester Derby. However, one-goal victories over Luton, Fulham, Sheffield United and Brentford have been hard-fought wins, and this has continued a trend where the Red Devils have yet to win by more than a goal or beat a side currently in the top half of the table.

There has yet to be a performance – which has displayed that this side is ready to compete for silverware, with the manager’s job looking perilous heading into the festive season.

Recent Head-to-Head

Manchester United secured a league double over Everton in the 2022/23 campaign with a 2-0 win at Old Trafford following a 2-1 win at Goodison Park, where Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner. They made it three wins from three after knocking the Toffees out of the FA Cup with a 3-1 home win in January, where Conor Coady scored for both sides. Marcus Rashford has been criticised for his poor record throughout this campaign but managed a goal and assist in the cup victory.

Everton’s last success in this fixture was in April 2022, when an Anthony Gordon goal secured three points at Goodison Park. The last five meetings are rounded off with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in October 2021.

Everton vs Manchester United Prediction

This tends to be the type of match where Ten Hag’s side grinds out a win, as evidenced by their games against sides in the bottom half of the table. However, there was some real momentum with the Merseyside club before the international break – and they will be confident of a result when their opponent’s current injury list is taken into account.

Everton have hit the goal trail recently, but this could be a low-scoring affair as both sides – are barely averaging a goal a game at this stage of the season. The home fans will be looking to inspire their side to claim a relative scalp here, and they do have players playing with confidence, such as Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil.

Last Word on Football can see a home win here.
