A video message from Gianluca Vialli to Marcello Lippi and his ex-Juventus teammates was shown on Italian TV on Sunday evening during an interview with Italy’s World Cup-winning coach.

Lippi was one of the guests on the popular Italian TV program ‘Che tempo che Fa’, where he spoke about his career and a biographical documentary based on his life called ‘Adesso Vinco io.’

One clip from the doc was aired during the interview and showed a message from the late Vialli to Lippi and his ex-Juventus teammates.

Lippi and many of his former Juventus players who won the Champions League in 1996, including Antonio Conte, Ciro Ferrara and Angelo Peruzzi, had met for lunch, but Vialli could not join them.

“Hello, guys, how are you?” asked Vialli.

“I am sorry not to be there with you to celebrate. I am so sorry. I am with you with my spirit. We haven’t met for a while, but the bond that unites us is always the same. We shared so many things. Victories and defeats. I made you win the Champions League!

“I do like Ciro [Ferrara] I laugh at my own jokes. I hug you all with great affection, but I mostly hug my Messiah [Lippi]. I will never forget you and I hope you don’t forget me, your striker. Enjoy the day, we’ll meet soon. I love you. Goodbye.”

Vialli, a former Juventus and Chelsea striker, died of pancreatic cancer in London in January 2023.
