“The Bella Twins” brand has been dropped as Nikki and Brie will be leaving WWE, as per an exclusive report and an article on People.com. Brie Garcia and Nikki Garcia — the names they will now both officially go by — announced their departure from the WWE on Tuesday and explained why just hours later.

“Today we are officially from here on out, the Garcia Twins, Brie and Nikki Garcia,” Nikki said during a new episode of their Sirius XM show. They also changed the name of the show to The Nikki & Brie Show. During the episode, both explained their decision to leave the company and said they knew it was time to move on to their next chapter.

Nikki noted:

We are so grateful for the past 17 years. I have learned so much in and out of the ring. I have traveled all over the world, I have incredible fandom. It’s been amazing. This is part of relationships. Whether it’s business, love, this is relationships in life. Sometimes, you come to this part of your life where it’s like, ‘let’s go separate ways. It doesn’t mean it’s forever, but we just know that it’s right.’”

Brie added that there are no negative feelings between the twins and WWE. She said that while people might look to find the negative story, it wasn’t hostile. Instead, this is a beautiful thing where she can finally close the chapter on Brie Bella and see what Brie Garcia is going to do next.

Nikki added that they know this move is a bit of a gamble and that the twins are betting on themselves after 17 years of using the Bella name. She noted, “You and I have gotten to the point where we know our worth. We know what we’ve done and we know where we want to go.”

Nikki and Brie have been active on social media recently, bashing WWE for their lack of respect towards the women in the company, especially when it came to the recent Raw anniversary show. The sisters recently showed up backstage at AEW Revolution, the company Brie’s husband Bryan Danielson works with. There is speculation they were potentially there to gauge interest from Tony Khan ahead of possibly signing with the company.
