One of the popular female stars in the world of professional wrestling is Mercedes Martinez. The Latina Sensation has been in the wrestling business for almost 25 years. Martinez has been a part of multiple promotions such as Ring of Honor, All Elite Wrestling, WWE, and many more. The 43-year-old star is also a former Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.

Recently, Mercedes Martinez got to reunite with the person who trained her to become a professional wrestler. The Latina Sensation took to Twitter to share a picture of her with her trainer, the ECW Original Jason Knight. Knight made a name for himself in ECW and WWF. He is a former ECW World Television Champion.

In her tweet, Martinez mentioned that without Jason Knight she would not have made it in the wrestling business. She also shared that he was the one who trained her and introduced her to the Strong Style of professional wrestling.

“I would’ve NEVER started my wrestling career w/o this man, an ECW original & my trainer JASON KNIGHT. He instilled in me the hard knocks of wrestling from learning the basics to high flying to eventually settling to the STRONG STYLE form. Sooo happy to see him!!! CEMENTO!!!!” Mercedes Martinez tweeted.

Safire Reed about her match against Mercedes Martinez

Recently during an interview with Wrestlezone’s own Ella Jay, former EVE Champion Safire Reed reflected on her match against the current Ring of Honor star back in July 2023.

“It was absolutely insane,” Safire Reed said. I remember when Dan [Read] told me it was happening, and I was just like, ‘What? Say that again. Say it again.’ I don’t think I actually believed him at first, but obviously, it happened. Again, I was just so thankful that I was able to get that opportunity and learn from someone like her, especially where she’s been doing it for so long. She’s just so talented in every aspect of wrestling. It really helped me learn a lot within the match.”

Would you like to see Mercedes Martinez hold a championship once again?
