AEW President Tony Khan recently revealed that Owen Hart’s son told him that AEW felt like home.

Owen Hart's son Oje despises pro wrestling for obvious reasons. The tragic death of Owen Hart on May 23, 1999 at the Kemper Arena is one of the darkest chapters in pro wrestling history.

It took place during the Over The Edge pay-per-view. Hart was being lowered via a harness and grapple line into the ring but unfortunately he fell 78 feet and landed on his chest on the top rope.

The premature death occurred due to internal bleeding from blunt force trauma. It was also stated that the impact severed his aorta which led to Hart bleeding to death just minutes later.

AEW holds tournaments in memory of Owen Hart and his family has made several appearances in the past. Speaking to Insider, Tony Khan claimed that though Owen Hart’s son Oje hates pro wrestling, he told him that AEW felt like home. He said:

”It’s such a special place. I remember standing outside Wembley Stadium with a bunch of the guys; we were walking out of the show, and Oje Hart was with us — Owen Hart’s son."

In the shadow of Wembley Stadium, as we all walked out, he said “Pro wrestling took everything from me and I hate it, yet here I am and AEW feels like home to me.” It’s a moment I’ll never forget. It was so perfect to happen there. At Wembley. The Owen Hart tournament is not just a once-a-year thing, it’s really special. They are a part of our crew. To have Christian Cage, Jeff Jarrett, Dustin Rhodes, people who were really close to Owen Hart, it means a lot to people here to continue that legacy.”

This year, Ricky Starks and Willow Nightingale won the Men's and Women's Owen Hart Foundation tournaments respectively.
