Roman Reigns expected to take break after WrestleMania 40
WWE

WrestleMania 40 is basically here and word is Roman Reigns will be taking a break from WWE following his two matches this weekend.

At this point, the WrestleMania 40 card looks complete. WWE could always toss one or two matches at the last minute, but the top bouts are confirmed. There are some huge matches set, with the main event of both nights looking similar. First, we have The Rock & Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins with the winning team having a say in night two. Then, the entire weekend closes with Rhodes vs Reigns in a rematch from last year.

For Rhodes, he is looking to finish to the story he began last year. That goal is to become WWE Champion, which seems impossible against Reigns. Not matter what happens, Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how Reigns is set for a hiatus. “I don’t think anyone believes Reigns would retire with a loss, and WWE has taught fans not to believe it, but given his schedule, it’s probable he’d take some time off,” said Meltzer. “Given his limited schedule, one wouldn’t even expect him on a show again until the as yet unannounced next Saudi Arabia show (last word being on 5/25) and the 8/3 SummerSlam show in Cleveland.”

WWE Could Be Swerving Fans

Now, that does not mean Reigns will drop the gold. He could retain and simply disappear from TV for months. Brock Lesnar and, at times, Reigns have been doing that for years. While away, it would leave Rhodes to work with The Rock. Their feud has been heavily teased and it might be more of a situation about The Rock finding time.

One of the coolest things about Reigns’ current run is the unpredictable. Last year, we all thought Rhodes would win the belt. That did not happen and the shock value is why fans keeping tuning in. Even with the betting odds favoring Cody and the Bloodline storyline possibly wrapping up soon, there is still a decent chance Reigns leaves with gold. So, when Roman Reigns takes a break after WrestleMania 40, will he be champion at the same time?
