Was Kevin Owens Happy With 2023 Program With Sami Zayn?
Source: WWE

It might seem like an odd question, but was Kevin Owens happy with his major 2023 program with Sami Zayn?

Specifically, the one which saw Owens re-unite with longtime friend Sami Zayn.

And then saw the reunited friends headline the first night of WrestleMania 39, challenging Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso for the undisputed tag team gold.

Championships which the friends won, of course.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Owens was given a chance to reflect on the program, and he got to tell us whether he was happy with it or not.

His answer might surprise you just a bit.

Was Kevin Owens Happy With 2023 Program With Sami Zayn?

He sounded very proud of what he and Sami accomplished.

What they did was, of course, one of 2023’s biggest story lines. Owens and Zayn delivered a major blow to the hottest group in WWE.

A WrestleMania main event is a huge deal too.

But, as you could understand, Owens wanted more.

Specifically, he feels like the duo’s time with the titles may be a bit underappreciated.

But why?

Because tag team matches don’t often land as the headline match on a premium live event.

As such, in spite of that WrestleMania performance, Owens felt that he and Sami delivered some exceptional matches…they just mostly happened on RAW.

It’s the unfortunate byproduct of a couple things.

At that time, WWE had a single top singles title, with Roman Reigns being the undisputed champion and having all the gold.

And, he barely worked, so the top of the card was wide open. That led to plenty main event level matches on RAW for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

The pair delivered, as did others.

One other thing often overlooked? Tag team wrestling, as good as some matches are, is never favored over a singles match.

That’s just how WWE has done things.

But, the program was so hot, so good, that it led to the first-ever tag team match for the titles as a WrestleMania main event.

Owens may have wanted better, or more, for the program. But, speaking as someone who thoroughly enjoyed it?

There’s little to be disappointed about.
