A one-time top prospect in the Red Sox system, Swihart always came with some defensive question marks behind the plate but was expected to be a high-end offensive player.
Swihart has appeared in 234 big-league games and tallied 696 plate appearances, but the result is a lackluster .243/.301/.355 line that falls well shy of expectations for a prospect whose offensive potential was so heralded.
