Kansas City Royals reliever Jake Brentz is expected to now miss the 2023 season entire after suffering an injury in rehab.

The KC Royals made six important 40-man roster moves Tuesday, adding three players—Diego Hernández, Freddy Fermin and Alec Marsh—to protect them from next month’s Rule 5 draft, and designating three others—Jake Brentz, Brent Rooker and Nathan Webb—for assignment.

Regardless of how long Brentz is out, it seems like 2022 will go down as a lost season at the very least.
Righty Matt Peacock was called up from Triple-A Omaha to take Brentz’s spot on the active roster.
Just in case you missed it, the KC Royals signed former Pittsburgh prospect Robbie Glendinning last week. He probably hopes things go as well for him in the Kansas City system as they have for another Pirate castoff.
Jake started hot but didn’t exactly finish strong First Half Jake Brentz was a surprise breakout player after a very nice Spring Training in 2021. He was taken in Round 11 of the 2013 draft and spent the next six years toiling in the minor leagues for three different clubs before the Pirates cut him and the Royals took a chance on him.
The winning streak ends at six. It was a great game for like, 85% of the way. Brad Keller pitched very well, piloting the Royals into the 8th inning with a 3-1 lead.
